MyFonds mobile app
This project focused on redesigning the MyFonds platform for mobile, adapting an existing desktop application used by over 30 social funds and more than one million beneficiaries. The goal was to create a mobile app that simplifies complex workflows while maintaining consistency with the original interface.
The Challenge
The main challenge of this project was translating a highly complex, data-heavy desktop platform into a mobile app without losing clarity or functionality. MyFonds supports social security processes, with dense information, strict rules, and multi-step workflows that don’t naturally fit on smaller screens. At the same time, the platform is primarily used by older employees who may be less comfortable with mobile interfaces, making simplicity and readability essential. Balancing these constraints required careful prioritization of information and thoughtful design decisions to make sure the mobile app remained both usable and reliable.
Redesigning with Intent
I converted existing desktop screens into fully responsive mobile screens, keeping the consistency with the original interface and optimizing for smaller displays. I restructured layouts for better readability and adapted navigation patterns for better mobile usability. Additionally, I added a couple of new features to improve the user experience. This intentional approach allowed the mobile redesign to improve usability and efficiency while staying true to the platform’s core functionality.
In Conclusion
In conclusion, this project transformed MyFonds into a more accessible and user-friendly experience on mobile without compromising the complexity required by the platform. By simplifying navigation, improving layout consistency, and optimizing content for smaller screens, the redesigned mobile app supports users in completing their tasks more efficiently and with less cognitive effort. Balancing strict functional requirements with the needs of an older user base was a key challenge, but it ultimately guided design decisions toward clarity and usability. The result is a mobile experience that remains consistent with the desktop platform while significantly improving productivity and ease of use for social fund employees managing critical social security processes.
